Where everyone can play
Mandurah Volleyball Association Inc. (MVA) was established in 1988 to help promote volleyball as a complete and diverse sport that allows everybody to participate in all volleyball activities.
Sitting Volleyball
Sitting volleyball began to take shape in Australia after coach Weiping Tu immigrated in 1988 and promoted the sport.
In 2000, Sydney hosted the debut of sitting volley at the Paralympics. This gave the sport high visibility and participation opportunities; however, post-Olympics saw a decline in the momentum of the sport.
Volleyball Australia relaunched the Australian Sitting Volleyball Championships in 2024 at Bendigo. This provided a a catalyst for new programs, to build towards the LA games of 2028 and Brisbane in 2032.
Today, Western Australia has become a leader in the sport, providing programs like Adaptive Volley, looking to build on the increasing participation of sitting volley participants.
The current Perth Social Sitting Volleyball League has around 50 participants.
